Week of April 13-17, 2015

It is hard to believe 3rd nine weeks report cards will go home this week.  Students are working hard these final weeks to do well on their next 2 hurdles...the Science Post CGA and the final I-Ready test.  Students can access the I-Ready website from home.  This is excellent practice in math! They know the website and their usernames and passwords.  I encourage all to work on this at home to help fill in skills they may still need help with.

Math
This week in math we will review and study fractions.  Students will practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.  You should still see math home coming home in the form of their weekly page which is due every Friday.

Science
We have finished our study of Rocks, Minerals and Natural Resources.  Students have a vocabulary list and study guide to help them review and prepare for their test Friday, April 17.  We are moving on to Earth and Space.  One of the assignments students will have will be to track the moon for the next month.

Dates to Remember

Updates Week of April 6-10, 2015

We are finished with the FSA for Math!! Yea!!! I am very proud of how hard the students worked and how hard they tried on the test.  But....it is now on to hurdle 2 and 3.  I have told students that they have 2 more end of the year assessments to complete.  One is the I-ready end of the year test. This is a computer based test that they have taken 2 times this year.  The scores will show their growth from the beginning of the year.  The second is the Science CGA post test.  This score will also show their growth through this year by comparing their baseline score from the beginning of this year to the end of the year test.  Soooo, as I have told the children, there is much more work to be done.  You should still see math homework coming home on Monday and due on Friday as well as Science coming home.

Math
We will be using the i-ready computer curriculum on Monday's, Tuesday's and Friday's to help prepare students for their I-ready test.  On the other days we will be reviewing and ramping up for 5th grade.

Science
Students will be working through the rest of their Science curriculum using their textbook, vocabulary cards, study guides and assigned reading log books.  You should see vocabulary and reading logs with questions being completed at home throughout the week.
