So.....he we are! We have moved to online instruction. That's ok :) We have PENDA!! Yay!!
I hope everyone is doing well and ready to take academic ownership of their learning (Remember when I said that in the classroom?) So, Dolphins, I know you are going to use your character traits we have worked on: responsibility, determination, self-motivation, and more! I know you will continue to learn what you need to, in order to progress and master the standards you need in order to move forward.
So, this is one way I will be able to communicate with you. Email can be the other. I know Ms. Tomlinson has taught all of you how to email. So if you have any questions just send me one!
I have a meeting on Friday the 20th to learn more myself about how we will roll out the virtual learning over the next few weeks. So stay turned!
Until next time,
Mrs. O'Steen

Cucumber Seedlings
So, I took home the cucumber seedlings that we started in the classroom and I had been keeping them in my kitchen window. Yesterday I transplanted them out to my garden. This is a picture of them on March 14. I will water them daily as the sun is hot and they are very small. I don't know if I may even need to put some shade cloth over them until they get a little more sturdy.
I will post their progress every few days. Hope your seedling is doing well!
Until next time,
R. O'Steen

Update March 16-20, 2020
Well, I hope everyone had a nice spring break. The weather was absolutely beautiful!! I looked at the clouds to predict the weather for the day as well as the moon to see what phase it was in. Did you?
As you I'm sure have heard, school will be closed the next week of the 16th through the 20th to hopefully help slow the spread of the virus that is going around the nation and world. I hope you have the ability to go on PENDA and do some fun and educational lessons!
I hope everyone stays well and I will continue to enjoy the beautiful outdoors over the next few days. I hope you do too!
Until next time,
R. O'Steen

Updates Week March 2-6, 2020
Welcome March! I really can't believe how the year has flown. This month we will end our third quarter already. Students have a lot coming up but we still have a lot to cover before our PMA 3 in a couple of weeks.
We will finish up with our study of the human body and its organs this week. Students received a study guide week before last. They should be studying the organs and what they do to help the body function smoothly. We will have a test this Friday.
When we come back from Spring Break we will have four days to work before our trip to Sea World. You should see a letter this week either confirming your students ability to go on the trip or weather they did not earn the trip. Parent who want to chaperone need to make sure the volunteer application is completed through Duval County Public Schools.
After Spring Break students will begin their third round of PMA testing in all subjects. Science is scheduled for March 25 and 26. I will be sending homework home for students to review before the test.
Dates to Remember
March 9-13................Spring Break
March 16 or 17..........Sports Fest
March 20....................Sea World trip
March 25,26...............PMA 3 test
March 25....................Early Dismissal
March 27....................Planning Day No School
